THE YELLOW BOAT
A Contemporary Danceartproject for two dancers, one vocalist and one electronic music artist.
The piece THE YELLOW BOAT consists of five Acts that deal with the five human senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. In the first act, “TOUCH” (approx. 30-40 min.), which will soon be premiered, we deal with the sense of “touch”.
What attracts us to explore the five human sensory experiences?
Our senses are the channels through which we perceive the world; the filters through which external information penetrates and our own impulses reach the outside world. They are the “radar” for our impact and the impact of others. Where do our senses take us? What dynamics are they tuned to from an evolutionary point of view? What have they developed for?
The Dancers Sinja J. Völl and Annekatrin Kiesel and together with voice artist Daniela Marcozzi, move through tactile metaphors in a dynamic, poetic way. Accompanied by live music, the piece swings in and out of our skin and transforms the gallery space of Galerie CLB Berlin into a place of gentle touches, violent collisions, lively encounters and surprising insights.

NOTE: The performance follows on from the existing visual sound installation in the gallery by artist Eiji John Infante Mitsuta and takes up elements of it in the piece.
Gallery doors open for the installation on Friday and Saturday at 6pm and on Sunday at 4pm.
Subsequent performances begin on Friday and Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 5pm.

Company STEVE is very excited to have found two new members that, together with the artistic director Verena Steffen, now build the ARTISTIC TRIO of the Company!
Daniela Marcozzi (Dramaturg) - has been working professionally in
the performing arts for at least 15 years as a performer, director, trainer and university
theater researcher. She also works with voice and body-resonators - inspired
by the body-voice training from Peter Rose, Grotowski's former student.
She is highly experienced in staging existing texts, and with working on textual, stage creation based improvisation and devised theater. Her special interest lies in the interplay between movement and sound, music, voice, and drama.
Stefano Ciardi (Musician) - is an Italian Musician, Composer, Sound Designer and Sound
Engineer based in Berlin (Germany). He began studying classical guitar from the age of 14 and electric bass and double bass from the age of 16, subsequently playing in numerous musical
projects, both in Italy and in EU. In 2003 he began his studies at the University of Florence, Faculty of Letters and Philosophy. At the same time, he began studying Electronic Music and New Technologies applied to the audio with, among others, Giancarlo Lanza (focused on Ableton
Live Software).
As a founding member of Zaches Teatro he has made numerous artistic Productions of
Contemporary Dance and Theater for Adults and Children and won numerous Awards over the last decade.

We are very happy to be a part of the Artspring Festival Berlin 2023! On June 3rd we will show our Interactive Dance Installation "...HERE!" in the Atelierhaus Prenzlauer Promenade 149-159 Berlin. ...HERE! is a counter-proposal to our existence in the middle of the media world. In the interactive dance installation, the audience is invited to pause in the here and now and, with time and all their senses, to immerse themselves in looking, experiencing and reflecting alongside the performers. At the same weekend all the visual artists of the building are opening their ateliers and our choreographer Verena Steffen will be one of them as well! So come by, be a part of our performance, enjoy the works of all the great artists around and have a cup of coffee or a glas of wine with us... |

Our research about the Impact of Social Media continues...
Last year, we dealt with the effects that the increasing flood of information in social media can have on people and their relationships.
We are now taking the movement material created in this process out of the typical theater space and are bringing it closer to people in a variety of ways at different locations.
In this way, we would like to enter into direct contact and exchange with the audience, sometimes even letting them become part of the artwork, in order to sensitize them to the subject matter and also to contemporary dance as an art form.
In the next three months we will test different performance formats and locations and invite you to participate in the different performances.

...HERE! is a counter-proposal to our existence in the middle of the media world. In an interactive dance installation, the audience is invited to pause in the here and now and, with time and all their senses, to immerse themselves in looking, experiencing and reflecting alongside the performers.
Embedded in the atmosphere of Volker Kreidler's photography exhibition at the CLB Gallery in Berlin, 3 dancers of the company perform a fixed choreography between different "experience stations". At a certain point, the spectators themselves become part of the dance installation and are allowed to enter the performance space and test out the stations alongside the dancers. In the process, they experience, for example, the collective movement in a "movement snake", and they are allowed to have a close-up photograph taken of a detail of their own body/posture/expression, which is projected live into the space. They can also observe the artistic creative process of a visual artist or simply immerse themselves in a moment of silence under the protection of silent headphones, trace a thought or let the choreography of the space take its effect on them.
In their installation, Company STEVE removes the boundaries between performance and audience space and integrates the individual decisions of their audience into their choreographic work

Company STEVE is sharing parts of their movement research about how the consumption of social media can influence our actions, our state of being and our relationships. In the creative process the Company included results from a public survey as well as their own beliefs and observations.
The movement sequences developed reflect and embody social media as a strong force very much present in our society. The play with different speeds and how our brain and body is processing the increasing flood of information plays a major role.
In the open rehearsal, the work processes are made transparent and the participants are invited to self-reflection and exchange with others.
